When a kit is the right Carport.com order

We do not install on ground that is not level. That single site rule is why kits exist: you still get mill-cut American steel, you just supply the labor and the pad prep. Kits are not a lesser product line. They are the installed product without our crew. Factory pickup is available; most customers still take free delivery.

What arrives

  • 14-gauge frame members (12-gauge if you upgraded).
  • 29-gauge roof and wall panels for the enclosure you designed.
  • The walk-ins, roll-ups, and windows on the order.
  • Hardware to assemble the building you drew — not a mystery “some posts and tin.”

What you supply

  • A pad or site you accept (level enough for your build).
  • Labor, tools, and a way to handle long members.
  • Permits and any certification drawings you ordered.
  • Electric, insulation, and finish — same as an installed building.

Installed vs. kit, honestly

  • Installed: we require a level site; about 30 days typical; balance due at delivery.
  • Kit: you assemble; we will not send a crew to un-level ground.
  • Same 20-year rust-through frame warranty language on the steel.
  • Any style — carport, garage, barn, shop — can be a kit.

What is in a Carport.com metal building kit?

The same frame, sheeting, and ordered openings as an installed building, cut for assembly. 14-gauge galvanized American steel standard, 12-gauge upgrade, 29-gauge panels. It is not a different, lighter product.

Why would I choose a kit?

Our crews install only on a level site. If the ground is not level, you want a remote site, or you want to assemble, order a kit. Delivery of the kit is still free in the states we serve.

Do you install kits?

No. Kit means you (or your contractor) assemble. If you want us to install, order the installed building and prepare a level pad.

Are doors and windows included?

Whatever you configure in the order is in the kit — walk-ins, roll-ups, windows, frame-outs.

Can kits be certified?

Certified wind/snow packages and drawings can still be part of a kit order so you can pull a permit.

Can I pick up at the factory?

Yes — ask when you order. Most customers still take free delivery.

What styles are available as kits?

Carports, garages, barns, shops, lean-tos, sheds — the same catalog. Switch to kit-only in the designer.

How do I get a kit price?

Designer with kit selected, or call (855) 227-7678. ZIP still matters for delivered kit freight, even when install is off.
