In metal-building practice, “storage” is a use, not a unique frame. What changes is door size, eave height, and whether you need a certified commercial occupancy. A garage is optimized for vehicles and a residential door. A storage building uses the same shell when pallets, parts, or a boat are the primary contents. Overlap is normal; choose based on door size and whether you need a driveway-facing bay.

Storage vs. shed?

Sheds are compact backyard units. Storage buildings run up through garage and commercial footprints. If you are storing a household of bins, start shed; if you are storing a business, start here or on commercial.

Can it be commercial-sized?

Yes. This catalog includes long enclosed buildings. For occupancy, storefronts, or warehouse traffic, also see commercial metal buildings. Certified packages are available.

What about moisture and rust?

Galvanized frames and painted 29-gauge panels are the standard. Keep the building anchored and the roof Vertical in snow country. We do not claim a conditioned warehouse unless you add insulation and HVAC after install.
